Panther
By Thomas Anderson.
The German PzKpfw V Panther is one of the greatest tanks in the history or armoured warfare. Designed to combat the robust and omnipresent Soviet T-34 and KV tanks, the Panther embodied a balance of firepower, armour protection and mobility unmatched by any other tank of the period. After some difficulties with initial models, the tank was transformed form the problem child of the Panzerwaffe to its greatest asset.
The rare photographs and diagrams in this book complement a detailed analysis of the Panther’s development and the problems that had to be overcome. It outlines its tactical and technical strengths and weaknesses, explains how the Panther was used operationally and compared it to the tanks of the enemy, such as the T-34, KV, M3 Grant, M4 Sherman and Cromwell.
