Osprey – Churchill Infantry Tank
By David Fletcher
David Fletcher writes about all seven Marks of the Churchill gun tank. It includes the self-propelled gun of 1941/42, but not the so-called ‘funnies’.Â
The book begins with the A20 prototype tank before moving onto look at all seven variations of the Churchill. Mainly looking at their different guns. The tank’s service in Russia and later on the Irish, Jordanian and Australian Armies will also be looked at. It will feature the disastrous Dieppe raid of August 1942 and end with a glance at the Black Prince which only made it to the prototype stage by the end of World War II.
