John Gaylor describes his book as follow ”This is not a catalogue of badges but rather a guide book. As a young collector finding unidentifiable badges or inexplicable variations of known patterns I searched in vain for some book which would shed some light on these mysteries but found none. I hope this book may serve to answer some of the questions of the budding collector”
